frequently asked questions

What is the difference between urgent and emergency care?
Urgent care facilities provide walk-in or same-day scheduled appointments for sick pets in stable condition that require evaluation by a veterinarian for diagnostics and treatment options. Emergency care is required for patients that are considered unstable or in extreme distress. Examples of these conditions include severe trauma (hit by car), difficulty breathing, collapse, and being unresponsive. Pets that need overnight care, major surgeries, and advanced diagnostics (CT, MRI) are best served by Emergency Care providers.

What types of cases do you see?
We are here when your primary care veterinarian is booked or after hours for your pet’s urgent medical needs. We can help with wounds and injuries, discomfort, unusual behavior, or if your pet just isn’t feeling well.
If your pet has a problem that’s non-life threatening and you think it should not wait or your pet is uncomfortable, it’s likely an urgent care issue. Urgent Care provides care to pets with non-critical or life threatening conditions. This means your pet does not need overnight hospitalization, surgery or advanced diagnostics. Still unsure about if you should visit us, please call, 503-567-9119.
