Alayson phelps, DVM

Dr. Alayson Phelps was born in the midwest and completed her veterinary training at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California in 2008. She was accepted into a very competitive internship at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, MA following graduation where she completed a year long rotating internship in emergency medicine, internal medicine and surgery.

In 2009, she moved to Portland, OR and became medical director at large corporate practice and successfully grew the practice into a thriving, 7-doctor practice before her departure in 2019 to start Brooklyn Yard Veterinary Hospital in SE Portland.

Dr. Phelps has a special interest in behavior and extensive experience working with clients and patients in a general care setting foe behavior support both in a clinical setting and outside the hospital in conjunction with training support. After the success of BYVH’s focus as a behavior informed practice is keen on applying this knowledge in an urgent care setting where planning for care is not always possible for patient’s who have veterinary phobias. Dr. Phelps is also Fear Free Elite certified.

Dr. Phelps lives with her husband (Carson), daughter (Lydia) and two rescue dogs, Dexter and Scout.
